Fading Away

I kept the blouse for weeks. It had a cracked button and scuff marks from where the dog tried to eat it while you were sleeping. Every few days I would smell it. The way your scent lingered was like tonic. It rushed through my body, bringing back memories of your skin on mine. Each time, the scent was less and less, like you were slowly fading from this world. When it finally disappeared, I was never even sure if you had existed at all.
